Our Mission

The West Islip Church of Christ is a body of Christian believers who are, above all other things, created by the loving God, redeemed by Jesus the Messiah, and sustained by God’s Holy Spirit. We walk the path of faith together as disciples of Jesus. We thank God for the gift of the church, the friendship of which provides each one of us strength for the journey.

We believe...

We are called to worship God together.

The church has no higher calling than to sound God’s praises on earth, in a weekly rhythm of worship that is rich and real. The call of worldly obligations and even church activities may pull us away from this primary focus. We recommit ourselves to weekly worship that encourages each one present as we bow before the throne of God.

We are called to welcome the stranger.

God has blessed our congregation with the gift of warm hospitality. We desire to extend that hospitality into an invitation that goes beyond the building’s walls, so that every soul in our community can hear the life-giving good news of salvation.

We are called to empower and inspire every Christian for ministry.

God gives gifts to each believer. We aim to instill confidence in God’s gifts in every member of our congregation. We continue to provide opportunities for our service to God and neighbor to deepen. Increased busy-ness is not the goal. Rather, we hope to encourage in each one the maturity, humility, and creativity that Christian ministry demands.

We are called to learn and teach the nature of discipleship.

The nature of God and God’s mysterious movements in the world are topics for a lifetime of study. We hope to offer nutritious educational opportunities for members at every stage of their spiritual journey. We are committed to training new teachers for each class level.

We hope through attending to these specific tasks to grow in our love for God, our love for each other, and our love for our neighbors. May God bless our vision so that we see clearly where we are and where God would have us go.
